Robb Watters Elected to Board of Trustees of The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates
October 7, 2005
The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (MFA) is pleased to announce the election of Robb Watters to its Board of Trustees. Watters will add more depth and experience to the already great wealth of knowledge serving on the MFA Board today.
Watters focuses on the development and implementation of legislative strategies, analyzing and monitoring legislative and agency activity, organizing lobbying campaigns and working with government officials. He executes these services for individuals, businesses, corporations and governments. His practice includes Fortune 500 companies, Business Associations, and municipal governments. In 2003, Watters was appointed an ISAC Consultant on Trade Matters by Secretary of Commerce Don Evans and the United States Trade Representative Ambassador Robert Zoellick.
He has years of policy and political experience from working on both Capitol Hill and as a lobbyist. Over the past few years, Watters has developed critical relationships with both members of Congress and Senators, including the House and Senate Commerce Committees and Appropriations Committees. During his service as a senior staff member to Republican Members of Congress, Watters gained unique insight into the inner workings of Capitol Hill.
Watters has assisted in the drafting of e-commerce legislation affecting issues such as financial services, privacy and anti- trust, and is an important contact and source of information about issues affecting companies in Silicon Valley. He is a knowledgeable and experienced consultant having advised clients such as Hewlett-Packard, Intuit, Oracle and SAS.
He has written legislation that obtained refunds of customs duties. In addition, Watters helped to guide and advise important international companies from Europe and Asia. Through his work on international trade issues, Robb assisted in the establishment the Forum for Trust in On-line Trade, a leading B2B association internationally. He also represents the Education Networks of America.
As a Former Republican National Committee Campaign School Candidate Instructor, Watters continues to assist Senate and House Members by advising and assisting them in their political races. He has also organized and hosted some of the largest campaign fundraisers, raising millions of dollars for candidates.
With the MFA's stated goals of excellent patient care using the most advanced medical care and technologies available, Watters will be outstanding resources for the organization to draw upon.
The GW Medical Faculty Associates (MFA) separately incorporated from The George Washington University on July 1, 2000. In its five year existence, this physician led 501(c) 3 has grown to include over 280 physicians providing medical care in 41 specialty areas. Aside from its expertise in patient care and academic research, the MFA is leading the way to modernize the practice of medicine with the adaptation and implementation of technology to improve the patient experience. The last year has seen the MFA prominently featured in medical journals and magazines discussing the rapid and highly successful rollout of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Additionally, Patient Online, a portal accessible through the practice website, allows patients to update personal & insurance information, process electronic prescription refills, provide patient appointment reminders and appointment history, queries to physicians, and electronic processing of payments. The MFA is excited to be leading the way in its development and application of technology -- laying the foundation for its continued success in an increasingly turbulent healthcare environment.
